Mojo is the innovator of the long
cylindrical, small diameter sinker, referred to
as Mojo Rigging or the Slip Shot System. Because
Mojo's are the same diameter the entire length of
the weight, its unique design allows this system
to come through the heaviest cover. This includes
rocks (rip rap), grass, and heavy structure with
minimal hang-ups and break offs.
Mojo's slip shot sinker allows
you to feel the fish bite and not the weight as
it glides smoothly along structure and cover. Because
of its light, long, sleek design, it allows you
to be a much better tuned angler, as you drag this
downsized finesse style Carolina rig along the bottom.
The Mojo rig incorporates a special tool available
separately which allows installation of rubber strips
into the sinker bore, while the fishing line is
inserted through the sinker cavity. This allows
you to slide the weight up and down the line to
adjust desired leader length without damaging your
line as you would when crimping a split shot weight.
Utilizing this new system of rigging, the Slip Shot
System (Mojo Rigging) was born.
The Mojo Rig is known and referred to as a finesse
fishing method since pegging of the weight is generally
applied to about ¼ ounce maximum. It is normally
a light line 4 -10Ib. test rigging method used when
heavier weights and other rigging methods fail.
The leader length from the weight to the bait varies
from 8 inches to as much as 5 feet. The longer leader
will almost always produce fish when the bite is
tough. The Mojo Rig works on all bodies of water
with all styles of baits. This rig really excels
when using smaller plastic baits, especially on
gin clear reservoirs when the fish are finicky and
spooked due to heavy fishing pressure and are looking
for a very natural and subtle presentation. These
weights can be used shallow or deep. It is not uncommon
out west where Mojo was born to use the number 2
(1/4 ounce) Mojo in 70 feet of water.
It is amazing how fast the weight
reaches the bottom due to its long, lean design.
Mojo has a very thin tailed, plastic bait we call
the Mojo Reefer which comes in 3, 4 and 5 inch sizes.
It works incredibly well behind the Mojo Rig and
Mojo Drop Shot Rig. Because of its thin tail, when
fish bite this bait they just won't let go.
This design allows you much more
time to react and set the hook. When using Mojo's
Reefer the bite is usually very mushy, it may feel
as though you’re dragging through grass or
weeds. When it doesn't feel right, start reeling
very fast, if it stays heavy, slowly pull back on
your fishing rod while reeling as this will set
the hook.
This method is referred to as a
reel set. While reeling quickly the bass believes
the bait is trying to escape the way a bait fish
naturally would. The bass bites down firmly to keep
the reefer from getting away. Now you can easily
get a good hook set. The bass practically sets it
on itself. No matter how you fish the Mojo Rig it
will always perform. Guaranteed.
How to rig the
Mojo Slip Shot System:
1. Place threader through Slip-Shot
2. Put 2-3 strips of rubber into threader
3. Moisten rubber with saliva, pull back
through Slip-Shot
4. Snip tails of rubber
